NATIONAL HONOR MEDAL KNOT If you see a red knot on a khaki background, the wearer has earned the BSA National Honor Medal. Max Nunley of Troop 32, sponsored by the Santa Rosa Police Officers Association, saved a two year old child from drowning. “Heroism” is defined as conduct exhibiting courage, daring, skill and self-sacrifice. Somewhere along the way in his young 15 years, this Scout had developed the attributes that led him to react positively to the emergency at hand. “Sill” is defined by the BSA as the ability to use one’s knowledge effectively in execution or performance. In his Boy Scout troop and summer camps, the Scout learned the swimming and lifesaving skills that were used to save a human life. | |
