Mike enrolled in Cub Scout Pack 108, Napa, California in 1959, He continued on to Boy Scouts with Troop 2 in 1965. In April of 1971 he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Mike’s son, Cody Chisham, received his Eagle Scout Award in 2011 in Troop 74 Petaluma, Calif..
Mike is still active in the Scouting movement. He was an ASM with his son’s Troop for several years. At present he is an ASM with Petaluma Troop 8. He is the current Roundtable Commissioner for the Miwok District of the Redwood Empire Council, a climbing instructor and a Merit Badge Counselor.
Mke has received numerous awards in his Scouting career. He received his Arrow of Light as a Webelo, Commissioner Key in 2013 and the District Award of Merit in 2012. Besides his Eagle Scout award, he is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
He attended the 2010 Regional Jamboree, National Jamboree at Fort AP hill as a staff member and the 2013 National Jamboree at the new Bechtel Summit, also as a staff volunteer. In 2011 he finished his ticket process to receive his Wood Badge beading.
After 40+ years, he is still self employed as a blacksmith and a farrier (horseshoer) in both Sonoma and Marin counties.
