Webelos Woods
The weather was perfect as 68 Webelos and their adult partners gathered at Camp Navarro for Webelos Woods. Webelos were presented hiking staves during check in and during flags they divided into the dens for rotations based on the color on their stave. Webelos rotated through 11 stations run my Boy Scout units from the Redwood Empire Council. They participated in archery , BB, fire building, and knot tying. They learned about first aid, knife & ax safety, hiking, and Leave No Trace. They cooked over backpacking stoves. They built bug catchers and tool boxes. They learned skits and performed in the evening campfire program. "The experience at Webelos Woods was a great one" said one parent. Some of the favorite activities of the Webelos were archery , BB, and fire building. Due to the drought, there were no campfires allowed in the camp sites but they still got to enjoy roasting marshmallows over coals hosted by the Boy Scout units. Boy Scout troops from Pomo and Yokayo-Logger District hosted the stations. There was high praise for the Boy Scouts from the adult partners. The Scouts were will organized and interacted with the Webelos. " The Boy Scout Troops are to be commended on their enthusiasm" I hope next year there will be Boy Scout Troops from every district at Webelos Woods. There were Webelos from every district in the Redwood Empire Council as well as Webelos from Marian Council and Mount Diablo Siliverado Council. The Redwood Empire Council is very excited to announce that next years Webelos Woods will be held at Camp Royaneh located only 50 minutes from Santa Rosa in beautiful Cazadero. It's a great day for Scouting!!!
