Welcome to our new Scout Executive Charlie Howard-Gibbon

Please join us in celebrating the selection of Charles Howard-Gibbon as Scout Executive of Redwood Empire Council effective Dec. 1, 2016  

Charlie began his Scouting career in October 1983 as a district executive at the San Francisco Bay Area Council in Oakland, CA, and served nine years there in succeeding roles of senior district executive and district director.

He moved on in 1992 to become field director with the Mount Diablo Silverado Council in Pleasant Hill, CA. Charlie returned to San Francisco Bay Area Council in 1997 to become district director and then field director. In 2007, he was promoted to assistant Scout executive of the Monterey Bay Area Council, Salinas, CA, and then, in January 2010, was promoted to Scout executive of Alameda Council in Alameda, CA. He helped Alameda Council earn five consecutive Journey to Excellence Gold awards.

Charlie is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member from the Golden Empire Council, and recipient of the Saint George and OA Centurion Awards as a professional Scouter. Charlie enjoys family history, Scouting history, camping, and traveling.

Charlie and his wife Bernadette have three adult children: Elizabeth, Matthew, and Charlotte.
