Committee Report for February

Charlie: 28 Feb FOS/UPP Excellence Breakfast. 120-130 People hoped for.

Trading Post at the Scout Office Mo will will be full time. 25 hours will be attending the Trading Post and stocking. 15 hours a week will be toward meetings-camp/popcorn sales/membership, etc

Move of the Scout Office is still ongoing search. Two viable possibilities in Rohnert Park and in Santa Rosa.

Chapter 11-National is reorganizing with a fund for victims. They do not want to include Councils as part of the bankruptcy but in the future they might need to have Councils contribute to the fund. Charlie asked that we be proactive with public concerns. 91% of abuse cases are from over 35-55 years ago. Scouting has since put up barriers: Two deep Leadership, Youth Protection training, No one on one contact, leaders and scouts are not to meet alone outside of Scouting, background checks.

JTE-“Dials” are a snapshot in time. Last Quarter the YL and POMO earned bronze and Miwok earned silver. 13 Units were fully visited. To count there must be five meaningful visits with simple assessments and one detailed assessment. With the withdrawal of LDS Units, it is hoped we can retain the LDS Unit Commissioners.

2 Feb at the REC Silver Beavers was awarded to Mark Abel and the CtS awards went to Jackie Reese and Connie Duncan.

29 Feb- Norcal Commissioner College Science. Applications were passed out to those who wish to attend.

Communicatons-Katie Dougherty

Article are needed by Friday to be included in the POMO Post. It was commented that geofencing works but that Peach Jar does not for advertising events.

Camping and Outdoor Activities-Shawn

Shawn wants to re form the camping committees into three groups-Webelos Woods, Camp O Ree/Cub O Ree, and Twilight Camp. He is continuing work on a survey for leaders to see what they are in want or need of.

Cub O Ree-Janet will have handouts for Round Table. She is in need of volunteers. She may have knee surgery coming up and may need additional help.

Eagle Trail

There are already 7 Eagles. Three more pending. 14 Eagle projects approved. Jeff Neuman stated a new Eagle Scout served on an Eagle Board recently. He would like to see that more often. However, it was pointed out that new Eagle Scouts should not participate on a Board of Review of his own Troop.

Membership/Activities: Sherry Kearney

Monica Donahue from P55 will help with recruitment. Sherry is looking at Earth Day as a possible event. Events generally cost about $50 a table.

OA elections at the end of March.

POMO District Dinner

Janet Pickett was able to secure the Windsor Grange for the Dinner. Janet Pickett will prepare the dinner. She is looking for ideas for the menu. Someone suggested the pulled pork as an option.

Scouting 4 Food-Weigh in. It needs further promotion. Without a good turnout it may

be combined with Super Saturdays held by the Food Bank. Jackie has not heard back from Units about participation.

Training-Peggy Bimbi
