Charlie has been a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, adult volunteer, and professional Scouter continuously from the time he joined Scouting in November 1967.  He earned his Arrow of Light (1970) and Eagle Scout award (1976).  He has been honored with the Saint George Award by the Catholic Church, and received the Vigil Honor and Centurion Awards for his 43 years of service with the Order of the Arrow.  Charlie and his wife Bernie have 3 children (Elizabeth, Matthew, and Charlotte) who have all been active in Scouting.

Since 1983, Charlie has been a professional Scouter (in addition to his BSA volunteer service), having worked directly with chartered organizations, unit volunteers, and district and council Scouters in five councils located throughout the greater Bay Area.  He served almost 7 years as council Scout executive of Alameda Council (2010 to 2016), and joined the Redwood Empire Council as Scout executive on December 1, 2016..

Charlie has participated in various community organizations, including 32 years as a board director, officer, and member of various Rotary clubs, 7 years as Elks lodge member, and board president of three non-profit organizations over a 20 year period.  He been active in his parish life since childhood, serving as an altar server, lector, choir member, and Eucharistic minister.
